Watch: US freight train crashes into military vehicle

Three injured as train derails in Oklahoma

A freight train has crashed into a military vehicle in Oklahoma, injuring three people.

The crash happened at around 11:30am local time on Wednesday, July 19, in the town of Gage. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the train was traveling eastbound when it collided with a military Humvee that was crossing the tracks.

The Humvee was carrying four people at the time of the crash. Three of the occupants were injured, including the driver, who was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The other two occupants were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The train engineer and conductor were not injured in the crash. The train was carrying a load of coal at the time of the crash. Some of the coal spilled onto the tracks, but there were no reports of any environmental damage.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is working with the Federal Railroad Administration to determine what caused the train to collide with the Humvee.

The crash caused significant damage to the train and the Humvee. The train derailed and several cars were overturned. The Humvee was completely destroyed.

The crash is a reminder of the dangers of crossing railroad tracks. According to the Federal Railroad Administration, there were 1,981 train accidents at highway-rail crossings in the United States in 2021. These accidents resulted in 112 deaths and 947 injuries.

If you are approaching a railroad crossing, always be sure to look both ways for trains. Never cross the tracks if you see a train approaching. If you are unsure whether it is safe to cross, stop and wait for the train to pass.
